Bankruptcy Fees & Cost Estimates

Bankruptcy costs can include attorney fees, court filing fees, required education-course charges, record costs and case-specific expenses. This page explains the estimate process but does not advertise a fixed fee.

What affects an attorney-fee estimate

Costs separate from attorney fees

Bankruptcy court filing fees and other federal fees are established by law and court schedules and may change. Individual filers ordinarily must complete approved pre-filing credit counseling and post-filing debtor education, subject to limited exceptions. Provider charges can vary. Confirm current amounts before relying on an estimate.

How to request an estimate

Start with a case evaluation and provide the requested financial information. Any fee arrangement, payment schedule and scope of work should appear in a written engagement agreement. A phone or website estimate is not the engagement agreement and may change if material facts change.
